Opti Information

The Optimist, or more commonly known, the Opti is a one-sail dingy designed for sailors weighing between 50 - 120 pounds.  It allows the student to learn sail trimming and steering.  The Opti is the first "racing boat" our young sailors go into before advancing to the Laser or 420.  

The GBSA Opti Racing Team was once again at the top of the competition on Narragansett Bay in 2006.  Listed below are just a few of the honors awarded:

    3rd Place - Optimist Team Race Nationals

    1st Place - NBYA Women's Championship

    2nd Place - NBYA Women's Championship

    1st and 2nd Place - New England Optimist Championship

    NBYA Sportsman of the Week - NBYA Junior Race Week

    1st, 2nd and 3rd Places - NBYA Junior Race Week

    1st Place overall NBYA Regattas

    4th and 5th Place - Marblehead Race Week, Marblehead, MA

    1st and 2nd Place - New Bedford Junior Regatta, New Bedford, MA
